Some designs have a larger minimum frame width.

Georgian, Beaumont and Cathedral require a minimum overall frame width of 882mm. Kingsbury requires a minimum overall frame width of 826mm. Other compatible purpose-made designs can extend down to the relevant Garador published minimum.

Opening Width

Measure horizontally from finished brickwork to finished brickwork at the top, centre and bottom of the opening. Record the smallest reliable measurement.

Measure vertically from the finished floor level to the underside of the structural lintel at the left, centre and right. Record the smallest measurement.

Square & Level

Check the opening diagonally in both directions and make sure the finished floor is level. Significant differences may indicate an opening that is out of square.

Handing & Outward Clearance

Decide whether the door should be right- or left-hand hinged when viewed from outside and make sure there is enough external space for the door to open fully outwards.

Can I order a purpose-made Garage Side Door?

Yes. Purpose-made sizing is available on selected Garador steel and timber Garage Side Door designs.

The configurator checks the selected design and dimensions and only allows purpose-made sizing where it is compatible. Ascot and Windsor are standard-size designs only.

What is the difference between nominal size and frame size?

The nominal door size describes the door leaf size, while the overall frame dimension includes the factory-preframed assembly around the door.

When checking whether a door will fit your opening, the overall frame size is the important dimension to compare against the structural brickwork opening.

Does the overall frame size include fitting clearance?

No. Garador's published overall frame dimensions do not include fitting clearance.

Your structural opening therefore needs to provide enough space around the factory frame for suitable installation and adjustment.

Our configurator includes 11 Garador Garage Side Door designs across steel and timber.

Steel designs include Georgian, Beaumont, Beaumont with Windows, Cathedral, Carlton, Ascot and Windsor. Timber designs include Vertical Timber, Horizontal Timber, Kingsbury and Seymour.

Which colours and timber finishes can I choose?

Steel Garage Side Doors are available in Traffic White as standard together with a range of compatible factory colours.

Timber designs can be supplied untreated or with compatible stains, White Primer or factory-painted finishes depending on the selected specification.

Can I have windows in my Garage Side Door?

Yes. Choose the Beaumont with Windows design if you want glazing in your Garage Side Door.

Compatible glazing choices include Standard, Cross and Diamond styles together with Plain or Crystal pane finishes.

Can the window frames match the door colour?

On compatible Beaumont with Windows specifications, the two window frames can be colour-matched to the selected door colour for an additional factory charge.

White window frames are the standard arrangement. The configurator only presents colour matching where it is compatible with the selected finish.

Which way does a Garador Garage Side Door open?

Garador Garage Side Doors open outwards.

Before ordering, make sure there is enough clear space outside the opening for the door leaf to open fully without hitting walls, vehicles, gates, steps or other obstructions.

What does right-hand or left-hand hinged mean?

Door handing is determined when viewed from outside.

Right-hand hinged means the hinges are on the right and the handle is on the left. This is the Garador standard handing. Left-hand hinging reverses that arrangement.

Which handle options are available?

A black lever/lever handle is included as standard.

Compatible upgrades include black knob/lever, White Anodised Aluminium lever/lever and Chrome Effect Anodised Aluminium lever/lever furniture.
